First Bloom of a New Series!

I'm back! Unintentionally, I seem to have just emerged from a 2 month work-hibernation / or 'boot camp' of sorts... not posting anything on social media, just working on a series of brand new artworks, taking the concept within the world of La Shuks art into a slightly different direction.
Thistle & Fructose is the first of these new works to emerge in full bloom!
Kind of completely different to my previous work, yet exactly the same (?!) in that, it features the same future earth, (long after human extinction) where nature itself has evolved from fusions of mutated rubbish/ trash, packaging and other bits of long lost meaning. But instead of landscapes... We're zooming right in to an extreme close up of a patch of foliage and the colourful floral sproutings that have blossomed eventually from the oddments and ephemera.

What is La Shuks?

La Shuks is my art name, (human name Katie Mac). I create limited edition mixed media prints and silkscreens, as well as 3-dimensional pieces and one-of-a-kind originals.

There's a theme running through my work, as it explores an imagined evolution of the earth in the far distant future, once humans no longer exist.
I love the contrast of using landscape photography, strong and grounded in real life, and then warping the scene into a fantasy alternate reality using the relics of long gone human days; logos, symbols, adverts and graffiti... left behind on earth, eventually evolving and gradually fusing and weaving into the natural elements, a kaleidescope of drawn details forming wind currents, rivers, waterfalls and a new evolution of species... it's future nature!
Well, you never know, in a universe of infinite possibilities, maybe this is one of them?!

Ooh my artwork is looming across the AAF's home page!

What a lovely shock to click on to the Affordable Art Fair's main home page and be unexpectedly hit by my own artwork "Sunset Rising" looming across the screen!

It was for a featured interview with Liberty Gallery... who I, along with some amazing artists will be showing with at the next Affordable Art Fair in Hampstead.

When the artworks just keep coming...

This one here is my brand new work "Afterglow". I really enjoyed making this one and think I wouldn't mind living inside it for a while...

Afterglow is a limited edition of 20. Size: 80 x 80cm
(31 x 31 inches)

" THAT'S what it would look like framed and in situ!"

Another fresh newbie: Shambling Alps

Sometimes it's hard to know when to stop working on an artwork. I could probably keep tweaking this beast for another month or so! But no.....Life dictates that it's finished now.
So here it is; "Shambling Alps" A limited edition mixed media print. 70 x 70 cm

I don't quite remember deciding if it was going to be abstract, or an actual specific thing... But now that it's finished, it's so obviously a mountain dwelling candy-wrappered lava-dragon!

And then THIS happened...

Just when you thought things couldn't get any more bright and colourful in La Shuks land, Tropichrysalis happens!
Incidentally, the first draft of this artwork started twinkling almost two whole years ago, when
I decided I really wanted to create a tropical piece using my many photographs of luscious foliage and caribbean palm trees. But it just kept stalling somewhere in the execution, so
I would put it on hold and move on to other works, completing around 10 artworks during this time. Over the two years since it's first glimmer of life, my ideas and techniques have changed and developed so much. So much so, that when I finally came back to it a month ago and worked on it to completion, the end product has turned out totally unrecognisable to that orignal incarnation!
"hmmm yes, very effective..."
